Description

This is the Pacman Nebula, imaged in narrowband. I had what seemed like unusually noisy OIII data on this one; in retrospect I think I probably just got overly aggressive in stretching it. The orientation of the object is also not ideal with respect to the camera chip, not something I could easily fix when imaging remotely. But I am happy with the result, as the colors and detail are what I was hoping for. This image was processed as a starless nebula with the additional RGB data being used for stars. Interestingly, even the small amount of RGB data produced a passable RGB version of this image that I may decide to post here at a future date.

This object is an emission nebula in located approximately 9200 light years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia.
