I have always been fascinated with Astronomy but I never owned a telescope. Growing up in Chicago, I never knew that you could actually see the stars like you can from darker locations, even a suburban backyard. So now that I live far enough from the city, I bought my first telescope at the age of 42, a Celestron C90 and down the rabbit hole I went. At first it was a love affair with taking pictures but now thanks to my engineering spirit has evolved to into me wanting to know more about how to apply my knowledge of EET and computers to astronomy. And overcome obstacles like the sky itself, the ocean of air that distorts our images. And the enemy, light pollution which has forced me to come up with creative ways and even travelling to dark sites to image the subjects I can't at home. I am grateful that I started this hobby as it has literally changed my life for the better and I am happier for it! I have made new friends and everyone is so smart and I love learning. Thank you to Salvatore for starting this site as it has inspired me so much.
